TMBA Membership

To become a Member an applicant must complete Application for Membership. The Application for Membership must be reviewed by the Executive and approved as per membership criteria.

The applicant will be invoiced for the Membership Fee subject to membership criteria being met.

The Membership Fee shall be agreed to by the Executive from time to time and shall be due and payable as determined by the Executive.

Members must pay the Membership Fee and any other fees owed to the Society by the due date as set by the Executive from time to time. However, where a Member unintentionally, and without ill-will, fails to pay the Membership Fee or any other fees owed to the Society by the due date, the membership will not automatically expire unless the Executive, by Majority Vote of the Executive, agrees the Member shall cease to be a Member of the Society.

Applying for Membership

An application for membership may be made by completing the Application for Membership that the Executive may from time to time determine, and by delivering the Application for Membership to the Secretary of the Society.

Each Application for Membership shall be considered by the Executive and approved as per membership criteria.

The Executive has total discretion whether or not to admit the applicant.

The Executive may interview the applicant when it considers the Application for Membership.

The Executive must advise the applicant of its decision, but is not required to provide reasons for that decision.

When an Application for Membership is declined, the Membership Fee tendered by the applicant shall immediately be returned or refunded upon notification and confirmation of the applicant’s bank account details to the Secretary of the Society.

Members shall:

  • work together in good faith to achieve the core functions in rule 4;

  • act with integrity, honesty and respect in their dealings with Members of the Society;

  • not pursue their own interests at the expense of the Society; provision for conflicts of interest.

  • make themselves available to support and participate in activities and events organised by the Society, including attending its Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) and any ordinary and/or special meetings as defined in Schedule 1 and convened from time to time;

  • comply with these rules at all times;

  • not do anything to bring the Society into disrepute;

Members Register

The Secretary will keep and maintain a current Register of Members at all times (“the Register”) recording information requested through the Membership Application Form.

If a Member’s contact details change, the Member shall inform the Secretary of any new contact details. The Secretary must then update the Register as soon as practicable.

An Executive Member of the Society may access the Register if access is necessary for the performance of the Executive’s functions, or the exercise of the Executive’s powers.

A Member of the Society may make a request to the Secretary for access to the Register. The Secretary will provide access to the extent that the Members have consented to access being granted to information about themselves on the Register.

Ending Membership

Any Member may cease to be a Member of the Society by giving a written notice of resignation to the Secretary.

The Member’ resignation shall take effect from the date that the notice of resignation is received and accepted by the Secretary.

The Executive may, by Majority Vote of the Executive, terminate a Member’s membership upon written notice to that Member if the Executive reasonably believes that the Member has:

  • committed a material breach of the Society’s rules;

  • acted in a manner that brings the Society into disrepute;

  • not paid the Membership Fee before the Member’s anniversary date of joining the Society or any other fees due and owing to the Society by any nominated date set by the Executive.

The Executive may terminate a Member’s membership if, after a grievance or complaints procedure under rule 11 has been undertaken, the Executive considers that termination is appropriate. The termination takes immediate effect.

Any person who ceases to be a Member must return to the Society all Society property in their possession or control as soon as possible, and no later than 28 days from when their membership ceased.

Any Member who resigns or has his or her membership terminated:

  • will not be entitled to a refund of the Membership Fee or any other fees that were due and owing and paid to the Society either in full or in part;

  • will not be released from the obligation of payment of the Membership Fee or any other fees due and owing to the Society;
